Jeder kennt Spr\u00fcche wie &#8222;durch die Blume gesprochen&#8220; oder &#8222;lasst Blumen sprechen&#8220;. Da liegt es nahe, an den Blumenladen um die Ecke zu denken. Dass man sich auch in ganz anderen Dimensionen dem Thema &#8222;Blumen&#8220; widmen kann, beweist das Familienunternehmen Westhoff in der Oedinger Bauernschaft Fresenhorst.<\/p>\n<p>Der Gartenbaubetrieb Westhoff wurde 1960 von den Gebr\u00fcdern Josef und Heinrich Westhoff gegr\u00fcndet. Die beiden Br\u00fcder haben damals sicherlich nicht im Traum daran gedacht, welche Entwicklung das Unternehmen im Laufe der Jahrzehnte nehmen w\u00fcrde. Die Marktf\u00fchrerschaft in einem hart umk\u00e4mpften Markt f\u00e4llt nicht vom Himmel, sie wird erarbeitet mit der Freude an Blumen in Verbindung mit Leidenschaft, Innovation und der richtigen Unternehmensphilosophie.<\/p>\n<p>Ein Eckpunkt dieser Philosophie hei\u00dft Qualit\u00e4t. 1995 wurde mit der Z\u00fcchtung eigener Sorten begonnen. Unter dem Namen Westflowers\u00ae werden st\u00e4ndig eigene Sorten gez\u00fcchtet, die immer wieder f\u00fcr Aufmerksamkeit sorgen und weltweit (USA, Japan, Australien) zu den f\u00fchrenden Sorten geh\u00f6ren. Die Z\u00fcchtungen werden erst nach erfolgreichem Test unter Produktionsbedingungen f\u00fcr den Handel freigegeben und mit einem begleitendem Marketing (speziell designte T\u00f6pfe, Radiospots) auf den Markt gebracht. Wer das Unternehmen Westhoff besucht und besichtigt, erlebt ein Meer von Blumen. Die Saison des Weihnachtsgesch\u00e4fttes ist gekennzeichnet von \u00fcber 1 Million Weihnachtssternen (Poinsettie), die mit ihrer roten Pracht in verschiedenen Stadien des Wachstums leuchten. Sie wurden getopft und f\u00fcr den Verkauf gro\u00dfgezogen. Das Gesch\u00e4ft mit den Weihnachtssternen ist ein typisches Saisongesch\u00e4ft. F\u00fchrend ist das Unternehmen bei Zaubergl\u00f6ckchen, (Calibrachoa) M\u00e4nnertreu (Lobelia) und Petunien. Unersch\u00f6pflich sind die Farben- und Formvarianten. Eine neue Z\u00fcchtung erfordert einen hohen finanziellen Aufwand und viel Geduld. Mehr als 15 Millionen Pflanzen j\u00e4hrlich werden von 55 Mitarbeitern und bis zu 100 Saisonarbeitskr\u00e4ften produziert und kommen zum Versand.<\/p>\n<p>Westhoffs Leidenschaft sind Blumen.
