Heinrich Gehling war Kupferschmied (Kesselmacher) von Beruf. Seine handwerklichen F\u00e4higkeiten sind noch heute zu bestaunen. Der kunstvoll gearbeitete Deckel des schlichten gotischen Taufsteins aus der Mitte des 15. Jahrhunderts stammt aus seiner Werkstatt. Auch der Hahn auf dem Turm der Pfarrkirche St. Vitus als Symbol f\u00fcr Christus (Noch bevor der Hahn kr\u00e4ht, wirst du mich dreimal verleugnen) wurde von Heinrich Gehling angefertigt.<\/p>\n<p>Der Sohn Theo Gehling (1902 &#8211; 1971) war Klempnermeister, der haupts\u00e4chlich kupferne Gef\u00e4\u00dfe f\u00fcr den K\u00fcchengebrauch und Kupferbleche f\u00fcr Dacheindeckungen fertigte. In der Werkstatt von Theo Gehling wurde dann wahrscheinlich die berufliche Grundlage von Peter Gehling (1941 &#8211; 2010) begr\u00fcndet, der als Klempner, Gas- und Wasserinstallateur und Zentralheizungs- und L\u00fcftungsbauer der Metallbearbeitung verbunden war.<\/p>\n<p>Das Gesch\u00e4ft f\u00fcr Haushaltswaren und Porzellan wird gef\u00fchrt von Maria Gehling, geb. Klostermann. F\u00fcr die S\u00fcdlohner Bev\u00f6lkerung ist Mia Gehling Anlaufstelle f\u00fcr den Kauf allt\u00e4glicher Bedarfsartikel Haushaltswaren, Geschenkartikel und Porzellan. &#8222;Geh doch mal zu Mia&#8220; ist Ausdruck daf\u00fcr, dass eine breite Palette des Bedarfs verkauft wird. Was nicht am Lager oder im Regal ist, wird von Mia Gehling kurzfristig und zuverl\u00e4ssig besorgt. Das ist bemerkenswert vor dem Hintergrund, dass dieses Gesch\u00e4ftsmodell heute etwas ganz Besonderes ist. In S\u00fcdlohn, in Stadtlohn, Borken und vielen anderen St\u00e4dten und Gemeinden sind diese Gesch\u00e4fte nicht mehr zu finden. Die Kunden fahren zu den gro\u00dfen Einkaufszentren, um ihren Bedarf zu decken. Hinzu kommt, dass die Gro\u00dffl\u00e4chen der M\u00f6belh\u00e4user Abteilungen f\u00fcr Haushaltswaren eingerichtet haben und diese als &#8222;Mitnahmeartikel&#8220; anbieten. Auch die Angebote des Internethandels machen den traditionellen Einzelh\u00e4ndlern zu schaffen. Eine weitere Begr\u00fcndung f\u00fcr die Schwierigkeiten der Einzelhandelsbranche Haushaltswaren und Porzellan ist das ge\u00e4nderte K\u00e4uferverhalten. Waren fr\u00fcher jung verheiratete Ehefrauen stolz darauf, \u00fcber eine Komplettausstattung Porzellan zu verf\u00fcgen, gen\u00fcgen heute je 5 Teller und Tassen usw. von Ikea, die dann in wenigen Jahren nach Bedarf neu ersetzt werden.<\/p>\n<p>S\u00fcdlohn hat es gut: Mia Gehling kennt die Kunden und bietet neben Porzellan und Glas das pers\u00f6nliche Gespr\u00e4ch.
