Alle Produktionsstufen Spinnerei, Weberei, Strickerei und Textilveredlung sind wichtige Vorstufen der Bekleidungsindustrie. Westfalen und speziell das westliche M\u00fcnsterland waren Hochburgen dieses Wirtschaftszweiges. Aufgrund von Wechselkursver\u00e4nderungen wurden in den Jahren von 1960 bis 1990 immer mehr Textilien in Billiglohnl\u00e4ndern produziert, rund 450.000 Arbeitspl\u00e4tze in der deutschen Textil- und Bekleidungsindustrie gingen verloren. Auch das westliche M\u00fcnsterland blieb vom Niedergang nicht verschont, Namen wie van Delden und Schulten stehen stellvertretend f\u00fcr unz\u00e4hlige weitere Firmen der heimischen Textilindustrie.<br \/>\nEs gibt jedoch auch Betriebe, die aufgrund von Spezialisierungen ihre Nische gefunden haben. Oft sind es inhabergef\u00fchrte Betriebe, die besonders flexibel auf Marktver\u00e4nderungen reagieren konnten. Dazu geh\u00f6rt ein S\u00fcdlohner Unternehmen: die Strickerei Overk\u00e4mping. Die Chronologie der Firmengr\u00fcndung- und Entwicklung spiegelt ein St\u00fcck der Nachkriegszeit und des Aufbauwillens von Unternehmerpers\u00f6nlichkeiten wider.<br \/>\nDie Anf\u00e4nge des Unternehmens reichen bis ins Jahr 1939 zur\u00fcck. Christine Overk\u00e4mping wurde in der Strumpffabrik Wessels in S\u00fcdlohn ausgebildet. Gestrickt wurden haupts\u00e4chlich graue Socken f\u00fcr die Wehrmacht. Heute ist es ein Markenzeichen: Made in Germany.<br \/>\nDie erste motorbetriebene Strickmaschine wurde 1951 angeschafft, kurz danach wurden die ersten N\u00e4hmaschinen eingesetzt. 1978 wurde die alte Bauernschule in Hundewick gekauft, hier war jetzt der Standort der Strickerei, die N\u00e4herei verblieb in S\u00fcdlohn.<br \/>\n1986 war ein Jahr des Umbruchs. Aufgrund von Platzmangel in der alten Hundewicker Schule wurde an der Ramsdorfer Stra\u00dfe in S\u00fcdlohn ein neues Betriebsgeb\u00e4ude erbaut, auch heute noch der Standort des Unternehmens mit 900 qm Firmengeb\u00e4ude, 300 qm Garnlager und 8 Strickmaschinen. Mit dem<\/p>\n<p>Neubau stieg auch Sohn G\u00fcnter in das Unternehmen ein. Im Jahre 2006 \u00fcbernahm G\u00fcnter Overk\u00e4mping das Unternehmen.
